Phinney's is happy to participate in events like Paws in the Park 2022, and we need more dedicated volunteers to help. When people come together to support animal welfare, everyone benefits! For those who were able to attend Paws in the Park (Paws) on May 15 at Longfellow’s Wayside Inn in Sudbury, MA, you know it was a really great time!
Our president, Morgan Ritz, and a team of dedicated volunteers (a big shout out to Lynn, Diane, and Marva and her daughter Daphna) made a lot of new friends on Phinney’s behalf, raising more than $200 to support our mission. We are so grateful for the contributions received and for our volunteers' hard work in organizing and participating in this event. By the way, we are looking for a volunteer to Coordinate our Table Events! That means this volunteer would search for events for Phinney's to participate in, maintain a calendar of such community events, and recruit volunteers to staff event tables. Are you interested? Email info@phinneys.org to learn more. At Paws in the Park, we had pamphlets so people could learn about how Phinney's provides a lifeline of financial and emotional support to those struggling to care for their pets. People also got to learn about our recently launched Legacy Program. And, of course, there was lots of “shop talk” about how amazing pets are, and there were so many cute dogs out with their people, which was heartwarming to see. The proceeds from admission to Paws in the Park benefited the nonprofit Save a Dog. We’re so glad we were able to support Save a Dog’s mission to help homeless dogs that day. Thank you again to everyone who made Paws in the Park a success! We look forward to hosting our own in-person events again soon. Stay tuned to our events page for updates.

There will be games for doggies, including agility try-outs, a group walk, and more than 60 vendors and exhibitors, including Phinney's, with everyone there to lend a helping hand to homeless dogs in need. We hope you'll stop by Phinney's tent to say hello to our dedicated volunteers. We'll also have some fabulous pet-themed wares for sale, including greeting cards and Cheengoo dog leashes and collars--woof!--and all of those proceeds will go to help keep Phinney's people and pets together. So, who's ready to join us for what promises to be a wagtastic time?! Phinney’s will be at Paws in the Park on May 15! The event takes place rain or shine from 10 am to 3 pm at Longfellow’s Wayside Inn (72 Wayside Inn Road in Sudbury), and we hope you’ll stop by Phinney’s table to say hello to our dedicated volunteers if you’re able to attend.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12, and free for kids under age 5, and proceeds benefit Save a Dog, a Sudbury-based nonprofit committed to rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs. A 1-mile group walk will take place at 11 am, and if you have a dog who likes being around other dogs and people, they can come, too, on a non-retractable leash, woof! In addition to the walk, there are several other activities that will be going on, including:
Food and Other Exhibitors We hope to see you at Paws in the Park 2022! We’re looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and sharing information about how Phinney’s helps people address veterinary and other pet needs when they can’t afford it – all while supporting the good work Save a Dog does in sheltering and placing dogs (and cats, too!) into loving homes. Now through the end of the year, you can visit Redstone American Grill located at 20 Third Avenue in Burlington for some fabulous drinks and a meal to benefit Phinney’s!
The restaurant is featuring several dishes as well as cocktails and mocktails on behalf of Phinney’s. That means Redstone will donate $1 from each of the select food and beverage menu items purchased during the two-month charitable campaign to Phinney’s. Our goal is to raise $2,000, and you can help us meet our goal by dining at Redstone! Just look for the items on Redstone’s brunch, lunch, or dinner menus that are highlighted in a yellow frame when you visit. And, here’s a sneak peak at the food and cocktail (and mocktail) menu items you can select to help us out:
Redstone serves lunch until 4 pm daily, and brunch is available on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner is served in the evenings and closing times vary by day. For the full list of hours, including curbside pickup, please visit Redstone or call 781-229-0330. Redstone’s Vice President of Operations Mike Musselman said they chose us for this special initiative because of Phinney’s reputation as a local, well-rated nonprofit. This means a lot to us, and we hope you’ll support this local business, spread the word, and consider dining at Redstone to help us meet our goal. Every dollar counts, especially as we head into the long winter months when people may need pet food and supply deliveries to get them through until spring. Phinney’s has been invited to participate in the Lincoln Arts Show, and we'll be onsite at Lincoln's Pierce House from 12-5 this Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 6-7) to kick off our Angels Tree celebration! Join us to see the majestic blue spruce all lit up in support of Phinney's Godpets -- pets who receive regular help with food, supplies and vet bills thanks to generous donations. We hope you'll stop to say hello at our table at the arts show, where we'll be selling watercolor ornaments to take home, give to others or hang on the Angels Tree outside. We'll also be selling Department 56 ceramic houses. (While supplies last!) The proceeds we get at our table will benefit low-income people and their pets in need. Here's a sneak peek at some of the ceramic houses that may still be available: The Lincoln Arts Show will feature creations by Lincoln artists and artisans of all ages. The art, ranging from paintings and photographs, to pottery and hand crafts, will be for display or sale, depending on the wish of the artist. For more details, check out our press release. We're excited to be able to kick off the holiday season in such a creative and fun way, and we hope you can join us. If you missed last month's news, check out some of our most popular stories below!

Phinney’s Friends kicked off the holiday season with the 4th annual Paws for the Holidays Festival in November. The historic Pierce House in the quintessential New England town of Lincoln provided the perfect atmosphere for celebrating just before the last of fall’s leaves hit the ground. This year set a new record – over 75 families took pictures with Santa and the Grinch this year! We heard the Grinch may have even enjoyed having his picture taken. The Pierce House was filled with the sound of harpist Jaimee Joroff and the Lincoln Traditional Jazz band. Pro baker and Phinney’s volunteer Alyssa Cohen almost sold out the goodies she prepared for our guests — homemade caramel apples, cupcakes, cookies, and chocolate-covered pretzels! Bidding continued for silent auction items like ski tickets, and many started their holiday shopping early in the crafts market. This year, a very special guest, Carla, shared the positive impact of Phinney’s Friends on her life and the lives of her cats. We are honored that Carla has been one of our clients for several years. Phinney’s Friends would like to express our gratitude to the volunteers and attendees for a successful festival. Our organization relies heavily on donations to keep caring for pets of low-income families in Massachusetts, and Paws for the Holidays provides a festive opportunity to gather in celebration of our cause! We wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season. Photos by volunteers Shannon Murphy and Jay Sullivan.
I’m so excited to tell you we raised $513 for Phinney’s Friends at Buddy Dog’s Woofstock festival on Sept. 21, 2019! Phinney’s sold new pet items (leashes, collars, jackets, etc.), holiday outfits and toys at bargain prices from our tent. Volunteers enthusiastically helped people sort through bins and try items on their dogs.
They also educated people about Phinney’s and invited them to our Paws for the Holidays Festival on Nov. 10th. The volunteers were delighted when people said they will attend, especially as Santa will be available for pet photos! Ho ho ho! “There’s always a lot of work to do for this event, and I’m so very grateful that I had your support as I certainly couldn’t have done it myself,” Judy Bell told the Phinney’s volunteers. “It was a true team effort on a very hot day. You all deserve an award!” Get ready for the fourth year of fun, celebrating the Holidays for a cause!
Solve your Holiday shopping and take your Santa Pictures at our Holiday Festival! We’ll have live music, food, silent auction, pet photo contest & shopping for everyone. All that in a beautiful historic mansion – The Pierce House – in Lincoln, Massachusetts. By Ami Martinez Such a great way to kick off the summer! On Saturday June 8, 2019, Phinney’s held its Paws in Bloom event outside the Loyal Companion Store in Concord, MA, so customers’ dogs could become artists for a day. For a small donation, dog parents walked away with a unique and beautiful painting produced by their own dogs. In a process similar to finger paint art, the dog’s paw was first dipped in washable, non-toxic paint, then pressed onto the artist’s paper and rinsed in a kiddie/doggie pool. The kiddie pool rinse must have felt amazing in contrast to the 80-degree weather!
Meanwhile, volunteer Shannon Kircher transformed the cute pawprints into elegant flowers. While she worked, dog owners had a chance to learn more about Phinney’s and complete their pet store purchases. Once dry, the artwork was ready to take home! Finished pieces could be framed as personal wall art or offered as novel gifts. Father’s Day coming up the following weekend offered a perfect opportunity to honor dog daddies! I chose to use mine to dress up my office space so that, when co-workers asked, I could say “my dog made it!” Small dogs, big dogs, puppies and senior pooches attended, and pet “puparazzo” Jay Sullivan captured all the fun. With the help of several volunteers, some willing canine participants and the graciousness of Loyal Companion employees, the event raised $240 to help pets in need. Loyal Companion even donated discounted items to Phinney’s, so we could have a yard sale as well. We are so thankful for each and every person and canine who contributed to make this day a success, and especially Loyal Companion, who supported us with open arms. Special mention goes to Puddles — he was as cute as he was cooperative, and produced the very first masterpiece of the day! As a permanent Phinney’s foster doggie, Puddles serves as a reminder of how committed Phinney’s Friends is to each pet family we serve. |
